Meyda Tiffany History
Meyda Tiffany
Meyda Tiffany Lighting's enchanting history began with Meyer Cohen, who was inspired by his wife Ida's request to create a stained-glass window for their kitchen, shielding their view from the neighbor's vintage cars. Meyer, a skilled craftsman and inventor, and Ida, a savvy businesswoman, merged their talents and names to establish the renowned Meyda Lighting Brand. Starting as a mere hobby, it blossomed into America's leading decorative lighting manufacturer and importer. Meyda Lighting remains a family-owned enterprise, steered by the Cohens' son, Robert, with the support of grandsons Chester, Max, and Ben. The company's founding DIY ethos has shaped its approach to internalizing technology, integrating competitors, and acquiring suppliers. Meyda Lighting has grown over time and now operates from a 180,000 square-foot headquarters and production facility in Yorkville, New York.
